President Donald Trump on Monday, March 23, said Asian Americans are not responsible for the spread of the CCP Virus (Wuhan coronavirus) and they need to be protected.

“It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world,” the president tweeted. “They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form.”

“They are working closely with us to get rid of it. WE WILL PREVAIL TOGETHER!” he added.

President Trump has criticized Chinese Communist Party and its handling of the CCP Virus outbreak, saying Beijing should have acted faster to warn the world after the disease started to spread there.

After the CCP began its disinformation campaign to blame the virus on the U.S. military, President Trump labeled it the “Chinese virus” to point out where it originated.

The president repeated his remarks at a news conference on Monday. Asked why he singled out the Asian American community, he replied, “It seems that there could be a little bit of nasty language toward the Asian Americans in our country and I don’t like that at all … so I just wanted to make that point, because they’re blaming China, and they are making statements to great American citizens that happened to be of Asian heritage, and I’m not gonna let that happen.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has made clear distinction between Chinese people and the Chinese regime, which is controlled by the CCP and stressed that Chinese people are themselves victims of its authoritarian regime.

“We have a long-cherished tradition of friendship with the Chinese people. We continue to do so today. We have a Chinese American community here in America that we love and treasure. I’ve known them through business and personal ties; I’ve known many of them,” Pompeo addressed China to Hubson Institute’s Herman Kahn Award in October 2019.

“But I must say that the communist government in China today is not the same as the people of China. They’re reaching for and using methods that have created challenges for the United States and for the world,” he added.

Pompeo said Beijing’s delay in sharing information and lies about the virus had created risks for people worldwide.

“The Chinese Communist Party had a responsibility to do this not only for Americans and Italians and South Koreans and Iranians who are now suffering but for their own people as well,” Pompeo told reporters last week.
