A retired deputy chief of Lakeland Police was found safe on Friday, Dec. 13, at a WaWa in St. Petersburg, Florida, after he went missing for two days, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook announcement.

The former Lakeland Deputy Chief Clarence Grier, 82, had been missing since Wednesday afternoon. He had last been seen about 4:30 p.m. that day driving north of Ocala.

Grier served 34 years with the agency, retiring as deputy chief, according to Lakeland Police Department. He suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia, his family and friends were very concerned about his disappearance.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said he was found Friday at a Wawa in St. Petersburg, safe and sound.
