On the same day that Republican Rep. Devin Nunes announced that at the end of the year he will leave his post as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives for a ‘great job offer’ that he ‘couldn’t turn down,’ former President Trump’s social media Truth confirmed that Nunes will be the CEO of the company that promises to kick off with a bang in January 2022.

“Recently, I was presented with a new opportunity to fight for the most important issues I believe in. I’m writing to let you know I’ve decided to pursue this opportunity, and therefore I will be leaving the House of Representatives at the end of 2021. I will deeply miss being your congressman,” Nunes wrote in a press release.

At the same time, the former president’s social media company confirmed that the representative will lead the company from its launch next year when he leaves his role as a lawmaker representing California’s San Joaquin Valley.

In the statement from Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), Trump noted that Nunes was chosen for his character and understanding of what is considered the ‘culture war’ between liberals and conservatives.

“Congressman Devin Nunes is a fighter and a leader. He will make an excellent CEO of TMTG. Devin understands that we must stop the liberal media and Big Tech from destroying the freedoms that make America great. America is ready for TRUTH Social and the end to censorship and political discrimination.”

Nunes gained notoriety for being a notable defender of the former president when Democrats were attempting to first impeach Trump over alleged Russian collusion that later proved to be a lie fabricated by Democratic National Committee (DNC) operatives and corrupt officials within the FBI.

“He had the fortitude to take on the media, the FBI, the Intelligence Community, the Democrat Party, foreign spies, and the full power of the Deep State,” read the statement issued by the White House when it recognized Nunes with the Medal of Freedom.

According to The Hill, Nunes’ departure from Congress leaves an important House seat that many Republicans will fight to hold if Republicans regain the majority in next year’s midterm elections: the chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee, which is in charge of writing taxes.

For the lawmaker, however, his mission continues, but in a different way.

“Rest assured, I have not, by any means, given up our collective fight—I’ll just be pursuing it through other means,” Nunes wrote.

“The time has come to reopen the Internet and allow for the free flow of ideas and expression without censorship. The United States of America made the dream of the Internet a reality and it will be an American company that restores the dream. I’m humbled and honored President Trump has asked me to lead the mission and the world class team that will deliver on this promise,” said the Republican representative.

Trump announced in October the creation of a new social media platform called Truth Social, with the aim of counteracting the censorship of conservatives in major Silicon Valley companies, Facebook, Twitter, that during Trump’s efforts to denounce irregularities in the presidential election suspended him even while in office. Despite the ordeal that the former president went through, he remains a very popular and beloved political figure by the Americans and at least the most recent polls give him as the winner before an eventual election for president against Joe Biden.
