The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) intrusion into the lives of every citizen in the world is increasingly worrying politicians worldwide, and it is known that one of the CCP’s primary weapons is technology.

This Wednesday, Aug. 4, during a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing, former Trump administration national security advisor Matthew Pottinger warned of the danger posed by the CCP to the American people.

Pottinger spoke about the amount of data on every North American held by the Chinese regime that’s used to compile a dossier on each person. Through technology, it stole personal data to carry out a surveillance operation on a global scale.

He said that the CCP took the usual Leninist practice of collecting dossiers on people to a level never seen before, thanks to social networks and 5G. Adding that the material collected is being used “to influence, and target, and intimidate, reward, blackmail, flatter, humiliate, and ultimately divide and conquer.”

He added that the CCP even has data collected from children and that they are “fair game under Bejing’s rules of political warfare.”

Regarding solutions to this issue, Pottinger recommended stopping funding technologies in China used by the regime’s military to monitor the world’s population.

He also said that the Trump and Biden administrations’ executive orders banning Americans from buying bonds and stocks of nearly 60 Chinese companies are a good initial policy. However, the “Treasury Department really needs to expand that list by orders of magnitude in order to better encompass the galaxy of Chinese companies that are developing these so-called dual-use technologies.”

During the same hearing, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) introduced a bill to prohibit banks from financing CCP initiatives.

The senator warned of the threat posed by the CCP, which he says, already controls the environment of all Americans. “The long arm of China is not some futuristic threat. It’s already here,” Rubio remarked.

He referred to the position the CCP has of holding control over Americans, in a way that no other government ever had.

“Today, the Chinese Communist Party has more control over what Americans can say, what we can hear, what we can read, what we can watch, than any foreign government has ever had in our history.” Rubio warned.

As an argument, the senator cited the examples of the NBA and Nike, which were caving in to CCP pressure.

“The U.S. corporations are so desperate to have access to the Chinese market that they’ll lead costly boycotts of a state—an American state—that passes a law that they don’t like, but they don’t dare say a word about the fact that, as we speak, genocide is taking place against Uyghur Muslims,” the senator recalled.

He referred to the theft of technology and intellectual property by the CCP from the United States, which amounts to between 300 and 600 billion dollars a year.

It should be noted that Senator Rubio is a strong critic of the CCP and its human rights violations.

Last July 20, on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the beginning of the persecution of the Falun Dafa spiritual discipline by the CCP, the U.S. Senator issued a statement in commemoration of the deceased and demanded that the Communist regime release all imprisoned Falun Dafa practitioners.
