Last Thursday Nov. 18, the girlfriend of Anthony Huber, the second man killed by Kyle Rittenhouse, admitted that she has “a lot of sympathy” for the teen who she believes got swept up trying to be the “king of the world” during last year’s riots, as the New York Post reported.
Hannah Gittings, Anthony Huber’s girlfriend, has spoken up about the night’s events, and she appears to disagree with Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger. Binger has had several clashes with the judge during the hearings and has been critized by many as “incompetent.”
Kyle Rittenhouse maintains he acted in self-defense, while the prosecution insists that he was an armed and dangerous teen who was instigating violence on August 25, 2020.
“I do have a lot of sympathy for this kid because he is just a kid to me so it was just like a really dumbass kid who unfortunately became the figurehead for this,” Hannah Gittings, 25, said.
She also believes that he isn’t the only one to blame for her boyfriend’s death and that the city of Kenosha is equally responsible.”Kenosha also needs to be held responsible for allowing this militia to show up and do exactly what they came here to do,” Gittings railed.
“You are not going to tell me that this mother [expletive] did not know that this militia was here. You’re not gonna tell me that,” she continued, adding a special prosecutor outside of Kenosha County should’ve been appointed to the case.
“They gotta put some heat on this kid because if they let him completely off the hook, then they have to totally take responsibility for allowing what happened to happen.”
Gittings is a single mother and had recently recovered from her heroine addiction. She dated Huber for only five months. “The type of aid we provided for each other and emotion, it was like we had a little makeshift family together,” she said at the Kenosha County Courthouse.
Gittings stated she went to the protests with Huber, a friend of Jacob Blake’s, the man whose police shooting sparked the riots, on the night of the tragic confrontation, reported the NY Post.
She claimed Huber was trying to stop Rittenhouse, who was racing around the streets with an AR-15-style weapon after shooting his first victim of the night, Joseph Rosenbaum, when apparently Huber tried to stop him. After striking Rittenhouse with his skateboard, he was shot and killed by the teen.
She also had some strong words for the teen, saying he was trying to take “advantage of a vulnerable situation so that he can live out his fantasy of being king of the world.”
But, as upset and worried as she was by the trial, Gittings felt enormous sympathy for Rittenhouse’s mother, reported Meaww.
“I felt for him and his mother. He’s a kid and as a mother myself, it’s difficult to watch your child go through things like that. I wish they could have the same empathy for us and realize that all of us have been crying probably a lot worse than that.”
Gittings is “hopeful some semblance of justice could be served.”
However, regardless of the verdict, she was clear that little would change for her and Huber’s family.
