According to relatives, an 8-year-old boy who died on Nov. 23 was the sixth death victim in the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy.
Jackson Sparks, 8, died due to his injuries when an SUV was driven into a Wisconsin Christmas parade running him down.
According to a fundraising website created by a family member, Sparks had brain surgery on Sunday night, Nov. 21, and doctors evaluated his brain function on Monday, Nov. 22.
“Please know that they appreciate your continued prayers and tremendous outpouring of support for their family,” fundraiser Alyssa Albro said, according to the New York Post.
Wilhelm Hospel, 81, Virginia “Ginny” Sorenson, 79, LeAnna Owen, 71, and Tamara Durand, 52, who were in the parade, were killed, as was Jane Kulich, a 52-year-old bank employee, who died while walking nearby.
According to authorities, suspect Darrell Brooks, 39, will be charged with sixth-degree deliberate murder related to Sparks’ death.
Brooks is believed to have plowed his vehicle through the gathering, injuring at least 48 individuals.
According to prosecutors, after reportedly assaulting and running over the mother of his child at a local gas station, Brooks, an aspiring rapper, was released on an “inappropriately low” bond.
