60 Catholic Democrats are accusing the U.S. bishops of demanding that the president, Joe Biden, comply with the precept of his religion that rejects abortion, which he insists on adhering to and pushing for, otherwise he would not be able to receive communion.

This group of Democrats blames the bishops for instrumentalizing the sacrament of communion against Biden. Most of the group also promotes the killing of unborn babies, according to the June 18 Daily Caller.

These accusations would be a reaction to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approval of a proposal to draft a statement possibly denying communion to high-profile pro-abortion politicians.

Abortion is condemned in Catholic Church teaching as a “crime against human life,” and Catholics cannot receive Holy Communion if they are “conscious of grave sin.”

For his part, Biden would be failing to comply with the precepts of his religion because as soon as he assumed the presidency, he took steps to fund and promote abortion, despite practicing other provisions.

“His administration has pursued the most radical abortion policies in U.S. history working to end limits on taxpayer-funded abortion, expand abortion through foreign aid…,” write authors, Kristan Hawkins and Kristi Stone Hamrick.

They add, “…open the door to more inhumane experiments with the body parts of babies taken from abortions and allow deadly, on-line, no-test Chemical Abortion sales, to name a few.”

Biden ruled out a ban on bishops, telling reporters June 18 at the White House, “That’s a private matter and I don’t think it’s going to happen,” in response to a question on the subject.

In this context, Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Pro-Life Activities, commented that Biden, “It can create confusion. … How can he say he’s a devout Catholic and he’s doing these things that are contrary to the church’s teaching?”

Among the new provisions for the bishops to consider is not allowing Catholics who behave in a manner similar to Biden to receive the Eucharist, nor to present themselves for Communion.

Biden’s non-compliance should scandalize the Vatican, which is the main reference point for the Catholic Church worldwide. But this is not the case, and far from supporting this group of bishops, it pressures to generate division within the church and the community, encouraging the abortionist ideology to continue advancing.

Very different was the attitude of the Trump administration, during which it resolutely defended the right of unborn babies.

During his first week in office, then-President Donald Trump issued an executive order known as the Mexico City Policy or the Protecting Life in Global Health Care Act that revoked taxpayer funding for International Planned Parenthood’s abortion business, Life News described.

His administration also cut off funding to a United Nations agency linked to forced abortions and forced sterilizations, which have been perpetrated for years by the Chinese Communist regime, among many other pro-life provisions put in place during his time in office.
