President Donald Trump on Saturday, Dec. 26, responded to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) who is pursuing legal sanctions and even disbarment against lawyers who want to expose election fraud.

Nessel said this week she is moving to get attorneys such as Sidney Powell banned from state courtrooms for what she called a “baseless lawsuit.”

“These are flagrant lies that Ms. Powell is submitting to, of all places, the United States Supreme Court in some cases. It’s disturbing and it undermines our entire profession, and she has to be held accountable,” Nessel told Detroit reporters. “We’d be asking there be action taken against her law license including potential disbarment.”

Nessel also said she will file complaints asking for sanctions and court costs for election-related lawsuits.

Powell has filed lawsuits in Michigan and other key swing states alleging widespread fraud and that machines from Dominion Voting Systems flipped votes from President Donald Trump to Democrat candidate Joe Biden. Most of her cases have been tossed out or delayed.

In addition to Powell, Nessel has singled out Matthew DePerno, a Michigan-based constitutional attorney who represented voters in Antrim County after Dominion Voting System software was found to have shifted more than 6,000 votes from President Trump to Biden.

Nessell claimed that DePerno made “false statements” in the press about the results in Antrim County.

“I think we need to go back to a time where you can trust an attorney is making an accurate and truthful representation to the court because if they don’t, then they won’t be able to practice law anymore,” Nessel said.

According to The Hill, earlier this month, more than 1,500 attorneys signed an open letter criticizing lawyers and the Trump legal team’s efforts to fight against election fraud.

“President Trump’s barrage of litigation is a pretext for a campaign to undermine public confidence in the outcome of the 2020 election, which inevitably will subvert constitutional democracy,” read the open letter compiled by the group Lawyers Defending American Democracy. “Sadly, the President’s primary agents and enablers in this effort are lawyers, obligated by their oath and ethical rules to uphold the rule of law.”

Powell also received a threatening letter from Dominion Voting Systems demanding a retraction of her “defamatory” accusations.

President Trump took to Twitter late on Saturday night, praising lawyers who are fighting for election integrity as “true patriots.”

“These lawyers are true patriots who are fighting for the truth and, obviously, getting very close,” the president wrote. “AG[Nessel] should be sanctioned. Fight on!”
