Two newly elected Republicans from Florida are forming a special team to fight radical socialist Democrats in Washington.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez, former mayor of Miami-Dade, and Rep. Victoria Spartz from Indiana are establishing a Freedom Squad to counter the left-leaning politics of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and the rest of her so-called squad in Congress.

The new Freedom Squad’s mission is to reject and oppose any excessively left-leaning policy, especially the radical proposals made by Ocasio-Cortez and fellow squad members Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).

“There are two new GOP members who grew up under socialism: Cuban-born Carlos Gimenez and Ukrainian-born Victoria Spartz, and two children of Cuban immigrants—Nicole Malliotakis and Maria Elvira Salazar,” Townhall columnist Gabriella Hoffman said on Twitter.

Hoffman, an American-Lithuanian, believes the pair’s harrowing experiences as refugees fleeing from socialist Cuba will help them expose communism’s evil nature.

“Us descendants of folks who fled socialism have much to rejoice,” she said. “[I] love it.”

Malliotakis is pleased to see that the Freedom Squad has received a warm welcome from like-minded people and encouraged sympathizers from the Democratic Party to join the cause too.

“An anti-socialist squad is forming,” she said on Twitter.

“Stopping socialism should be a bipartisan issue,” she added on Twitter. “The sooner Democrats realize they cannot satisfy the radical left without destroying our nation, the better off we will all be.”

Gimenez has already started to receive enquiries from locals in his congressional district.

“Looking forward to it, Florida 26th congressional district,” he said on Twitter.

“I am proud to serve with Nicole Malliotakis, Maria Elvira Salazar, and Victoria Spartz,” he added on Twitter. “We know what socialism does to a nation–we escaped it. We will fight for freedom, the American dream, and opportunity every single day.”

Gimenez was born in Cuba, and so were Salazar’s parents. Malliotakis’s mother was also born in Cuba, while Spartz grew up in part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (CCCP) that eventually became Ukraine after the CCCP collapsed in 1991.

Other Republican women running for public office previously founded a Conservative Squad to fight AOC and other socialist Democrats.

Congressional candidates Jessica Taylor (R-Ala.), Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.), Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), and Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) aimed to counter what they called the socialist ideologies of Ocasio-Cortez and Omar.

“[I am] sick of arrogant socialists like AOC who have never even run a lemonade stand, trying to tell us how to live in Alabama and that more government is the answer,” Taylor said according to Fox News.

Mace believes the Democratic Party has increasingly embraced the left side of politics that has prompted Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, and others from the party’s “socialist squad” to erode individual freedoms and job opportunities.

“The Democrats—they have taken a sharp left turn under the influence of the socialist squad,” she told “Fox and Friends.” “This is socialism versus American values of freedom and job creation, and we all understand up here today that people flourish under freedom, and 2020 next year is pivotal for our country.”
