Getting caught on camera, Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was seen commuting in a suburban and then jumping out on his bike to arrive at work.
Buttigieg decided to give the impression that he was saving the environment by riding his bike to work instead of driving a gas-guzzling vehicle. In fact, he drove a gas-guzzling vehicle only rode a short distance for a photo-op.
Conservative critics later mocked him after a short clip showed security staffers unloading his bike from the back of an SUV so that he could “ride” to an April 1 Cabinet meeting.
The person who filmed it can be heard commenting on what he was seeing. “Got a bike in his suit. Riding away. I didn’t know he’d ride it in his suit.”

In his current job, the former mayor of South Bend has tried to bolster his environmental credentials. Last week, he said that a car mileage levy could be included in Biden’s proposed infrastructure bill to help offset expenses but later backtracked.
“Pete Buttigieg travels in a Suburban to bring a bike within a short distance of his destination. He unloads it and rides in with a security detail in tow, pretending to save energy.

Buttigieg, who has been at the forefront of President Joe Biden’s attempts to combat climate change, tried to show off his environmentally friendly transportation mode.
CNN correspondent DJ Judd spotted him in the act while removing the bike from the SUV moments earlier. He then uploaded the video on Twitter with the caption, “Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg biked to the White House for today’s Cabinet Meeting, it would appear.”
