Democratic representatives, expressly supported by President Joe Biden, introduced a controversial bill on Friday, Feb. 19, called the Equality Act, which proposes to eliminate the legal recognition of male and female sex from the biological sense of the term.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), along with a group of progressive Democrats, reintroduced the Equality Act in the House on Friday. The controversial bill aims to eliminate discrimination by eradicating biological sex differentiation and penetrating gender ideology into every public and private realm of human relations.

The so-called Equality Act was passed by the Democrat-controlled House in May 2019, but was blocked in the then Republican-controlled Senate. Now that Democrats have taken control of the Senate, advocates are hopeful that the bill will pass.

President Joe Biden, who repeatedly spoke out in defense of gender ideology to the detriment of traditional values, expressed his deep support for the legislation and the representatives who pushed for it again.

“I applaud Congressman David Cicilline and the entire Congressional Equality Caucus for introducing the Equality Act in the House of Representatives yesterday, and I urge Congress to swiftly pass this historic legislation,” Biden said.

The bill is expected to be voted on next week and if passed could forever change culture as we know it today.

Ryan Anderson, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), warned in a statement that the legislation is something of a double-edged sword, that with talk of protecting minorities, it ends up going after majorities who do not embrace the new gender ideologies with the full weight of the law.

“It isn’t drafted as a shield to protect vulnerable minorities from unjust discrimination, but as a sword to persecute those who do not embrace new sexual and gender ideologies.” Anderson stated.

Anderson warned about how the legislation would have a particularly strong impact on the privacy of women and girls, and also noted how religious institutions would also suffer serious consequences for simply interpreting a biological definition of sex.

According to Anderson, “It sacrifices the equality, safety, and privacy of women, while privileging men who identify as women.”

He went on to say, “If this bill becomes law, they’d have a civil right to spend the night in a battered women’s shelter, disrobe in a women’s locker room, and compete on a women’s sports team—even children at K-12 public schools.”

Churches and religious schools could receive significant penalties if they operate according to basic biology and conventional biblical teaching on sex and marriage.

Anderson noted that anyone opposing medical treatment for transgender people would be charged with “discrimination,” and any refusal to support or provide abortions would now be treated as “pregnancy discrimination,” if the bill becomes law.

President Joe Biden and the Democrats akin to his power, once again evidence their progressive ideology shaped by the most radical left and their intention to use the tools of government to apply progressivism in all areas of the social and cultural life of the population.
