A Californian woman received more than she bargained for when she bought some second-hand furniture from a charity shop.

Valencia was shocked to discover at least one discarded item in a used nightstand she bought from her local Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center.

The San Diegan revealed a “crumpled-up” and “dirty” piece of paper in a drawer strangely had her little sister’s name and mother’s old cellphone number written on it.

“It legitimately says Carly’s home number and mom’s cellphone number,” she said in a video shared on TikTok. “It has my mom’s cellphone number and our home phone number from 15 years ago–like what?”

Valencia estimates the note, which a child wrote, must be at least a decade old.

“My younger sister’s name is Carly and that is our home phone number,” she can be heard saying. “We have not had a home phone for probably 10 to 15 years but what are the chances of that?”

The woman insists her video was not staged and is “for real,” and even showed the $12.99 ticketed price was still on the nightstand.

“I am not making this up, I literally do not care how many people comment and say ‘Oh my God, this was staged,'” she said. “I bought these nightstands from Goodwill today. My heart is just a little trembly, this is really cool.”

As Valencia continued to search through the nightstand, she recovered more pieces of paper and was able to confirm the previous owner’s surname. This helped her use social media to track down the previous owner who verified she really was Carly’s childhood friend.

“The weirdest thing just happened,” she said. “I go thrifting and I come up with nightstands owned by one of my little sister’s friends.”

The video has since gone viral on social media, attracting nearly 108,000 likes and more than 340 comments at the time of publication.

Although the happy coincidence did not impress all viewers, Valencia stressed the odds of this happening are extremely low. The San Diego metropolitan area has a population of more than 3.3 million residents.

“[This is a] perfect example of what is yours will always come back to you,” one TikTok user commented.

“That is so crazy but wonderful!” another TikTok user added.
