According to her representative, Kim Mi-soo, a South Korean actress and model who starred in Disney+’s successful series Snowdrop, died unexpectedly at the age of 29.
Her management business, Lanscape, issued a statement saying, “Kim departed us abruptly on January 5.” The cause of death has not been announced. The bereaved family’s sudden tragedy has left them extremely grieved.
“We sincerely ask you to refrain from making up rumors or speculative reports so that the bereaved family, who are in shock and grief-stricken, can reverently commemorate the deceased.”
Kim was born in 1992 in South Korea, where she studied acting at Korea National University of Arts and had a successful modeling career.
Kim rose to fame as Yeo Jeongmin, a student activist on Snowdrop. She portrays a fourth-year history student who lives in the same college dorm as the main character, played by Jisoo of Blackpink.
In 2019, Kim starred in the Korean films Memories and Kyungmi’s World. She starred in the Netflix acting drama Hellbound, which dethroned Squid Game as the most popular show on the platform. In November 2021, it was the most viewed on Netflix.
Snowdrop is a love serial set during the 1987 pro-democracy movement, and it was Kim’s final acting role before her death. The show has sparked debate regarding its portrayal of Northerners in Korea and its historical integrity.
Her work on the Korean television drama Lipstick Revolution made her famous. She also starred in the television show Hi Bye, Mama!
Kim participated in seven of the 16 episodes before her death, and filming ceased since Snowdrop was a pre-produced series.
Kim had recently started filming Kiss Six Sense, a Disney+ original series.
The film was said to have canceled filming the day after she died.
Fans were stunned, and they flocked to Twitter to thank the star, who, although being born on March 16, 1992, is 31 years old due to the way some Koreans calculate the calendar.
One wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Kim Mi-soo passing away at the age of 31. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family”.
“A number of us have known you through Yeo Jeongmin but it won’t downsize that we have grown to love you in such short while. Ms. Kim Misoo, wherever you are now, bring with you the love we have,” another Twitter user added.
Kim’s funeral will be placed at Taeneung Sungsim Funeral Home in Taeneung, South Korea.
