As reported, on September 8, Xi Jinping suddenly promoted Wang Qiang to colonel general, while Li Qiaoming, former commander of Beijing Command was replaced before retirement age. In the past few days, strange things have happened in Shenyang city, Liaoning province, where the Northern military region is located. Outsiders speculated that this could be related to Xi’s urgent replacement of the Northern military commander.

According to Chinese state media, on September 8, the promotion ceremony of the Central Military Commission was held at the Bayi building, Beijing. There, Xi, chairman of the Central Military Commission, issued an order to Wang Qiang, Northern military commander, who was promoted to colonel general.

Wang had also been promoted 3 levels within 8 months. Xi personally promoted Wang from major general to colonel general. Some comments said that was sitting in a “helicopter” going up and up.

As for the former Northern military commander, Li did not go through the usual dismissal procedure.

Netizens revealed that, on August 17 this year, Xi visited the Northern military region when he inspected Shenyang. According to Sound of Hope, analysts pointed out that Xi may have already chosen the Northern military commander at that time, otherwise he would not have gone to Shenyang, let alone visited the Northern military region.
